Mike Krejci is a graphic designer, Entrepreneur, professional dog walker, and father of a wonderful baby girl. Though he was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he toured across North America for eight consecutive seasons of drum corps. It remains one of his great passions to this day.

Mike describes every Drum Corps International season as, “Like the Superbowl is happening every day for me.” It’s that exciting!

Mike was first introduced to drum and bugle corps at the early age of 9 years old by participating in “The Troops,” a small parade drum corps based out of Cedar Rapids. Then in 1992, he heard that his best friend and cousin were joining the local drum corps. At the age of 14, Mike started going to Nite Express camps. Nite Express was the current iteration of the Emerald Knights Drum and Bugle Corps at the time. It was here that he developed a love for not only the corps he marched but for the whole drum corps activity.

Mike marched contrabass bugle for four seasons with Nite Express (1993-1996). When Nite Express went inactive in 1997, Mike mustered up the courage to audition for his favorite Midwest drum corps, Phantom Regiment. Mike marched with the Regiment for four seasons on contrabass. Like so many others, Mike’s life was shaped by the drum corps activity.

“Corps taught me to take care of myself,” Mike exclaims, “When I marched, I knew that I would be doing the hardest thing I had ever done, every day. Drum corps ultimately taught me that I could do anything if I worked hard enough. I can’t imagine what life would be like if I had never gone to my first camp.”

Now, Mike is a diehard drum corps fan. “There aren’t any corps I don’t enjoy,” he often exclaims. “When Tim contacted me to work on the app, I was beyond excited. There was no way I could say no, and Tim knew that.”

Mike took on the role as the visual designer for the app. It made sense because he is the co-founder and creative director of Alphapom, a digital marketing firm, and TribeFinder, a global directory for holistic wellness practitioners. Dylan, Tim, Mike are a dynamic team. Their cumulative passion for drum corps has created a professional synergy that is magical.

Mike is pleased that you have chosen to use the app. “Thank you so much, everyone,” are Mike’s parting words, “If you enjoy the app, as much as we enjoyed creating it, I would love that. Much appreciated.”
